Tenacious D

Tenacious D isn't really a band, per se. It's more like two naked fat guys with acoustic guitars. Kyle Gass (lead acoustic guitar, backup vocals) and Jack Black (lead vocals, backup acoustic guitar) team up with star power like Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl (drums, backup electric guitar) and The Vandals' Warren Fitzgerald (lead electric guitar), plus many more for their brand new self-titled debut album. Jack Black is also known for his starring roles in the films "High Fidelity," "Saving Silverman," and the upcoming "Shallow Hal."
The D's first album is an excellent combination of musical comedy ("F--- Her Gently," "Karate," "Double Team," & "Dio"), spoken word comedy ("One Note Song," "Hard F---ing," "Inward Singing," & "Cock Pushups"), and radio-friendly alternative rock ("Tribute," "Rock Your Socks," and the MTV-played "Wonderboy").
This may be the best album I own right now. It is a great mixture of witty comedy, skillfull musicianship, and a singing style that at times sounds like the Barenaked Ladies. It is 70 minutes of high-quality entertainment. I give it a 9/10.
Tenacious D are currently on tour with Weezer, a tour that is stopping in Madison on December 2.
